General Elections Nigeria:
The General elections 2019 will be on 16th February 2019. The general election is a process where all the members or candidates of a certain political party are elected at the same time. I.e. it is a nationwide election to select the candidates of a political party to form the Government of that country. In Nigeria, General elections will be conducted on the same day across the Federal Republic of Nigeria to elect the President of Nigeria and the National Assembly.

What are the Functions of INEC?
The basic duty of INEC – Independent National Electoral Commission is to conduct the elections across the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Apart from organizing elections the other functions of INEC are:
- INEC organizes the elections in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
- INEC registers the political parties according to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
- INEC monitors the complete operations of the registered political parties.
- INEC examines all the transactions and funds of the registered political parties and publishes the annual report.
- INEC educates the Citizens and Voters of Nigeria by conducting the voter education.
- INEC monitors the political campaigns to not to break the rules and regulations.
A register is an authentic list of information. The register may be an authorized list of knowledge. In this context register is an authorized Record which maintains the authentic electoral list. In Nigeria, these electoral registers are maintained by the INEC officers. The ballot is a device or piece of paper or an electronic device which is used to cast vote during the election. Electors or voters by using the ballot cast their votes at the time of the election. Electoral register or Electoral roll is an authentic record or list of Nigerian Citizens who are eligible to vote during the elections. Electoral Register or a Poll book is an authorized record which contains the list of Nigerian Nationals who are eligible to cast their vote on the Election Day.
