Vote on Election Day:

The vote on Election Day or ordinary voting is the voting option which most of the Canadians use. Ordinary voting is nothing but, on the Election Day the voter visits the polling place or a polling center and cast his/her vote within the Electoral Division where he/she was registered to vote.

How to Vote at Polling Place as an Ordinary Voter on Election Day Canada?

  • Visit the polling place on the Election Day or Polling day.
  • After entering to the polling place you will be directed to the ballot paper issuing official.
  • Before issuing the ballot paper the official will ask you to show your proof of identity and address to confirm your details.
  • After the verification of your proof of identity and address, the official will issue a ballot paper on which contains official’s initial.
  • Take the folded Ballot paper from the official and go behind the voting screen.
  • Now Mark the ballot paper and refold the marked ballot paper so that nobody can see it.
  • Proceed to the official and return the marked and refolded ballot paper.
  • The official will tear off the tab and return the ballot paper to you.
  • Now take your ballot paper and drop the ballot paper in to the ballot box.

Vote at Your Advance Poll:

Vote at your advance poll or early voting is a voting option provided by the EC if you are not able to vote on the Election Day due to travelling or away from the electorate where you were enrolled to vote or away from the polling place. The advance polls will be held on the 10th day or 9th day or 8th day or 7th day before the Election Day. The advance polling places will be open from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM Canada Local time.

How to Vote at the Advance Poll Canada?

  • Visit the polling place on the 7th day or 8th day or 9th day or 10th day before the Election Day.
  • After entering to the polling place you will be directed to the ballot paper issuing official.
  • Before issuing the ballot paper the official will ask you to show your proof of identity and address to confirm your details.
  • After the verification of your proof of identity and address, the official will issue a ballot paper on which contains official’s initial.
  • Take the folded Ballot paper from the official and go behind the voting screen.

Vote at any Elections Canada Office in Person:

Once the Elections notification is released you can choose this option to vote in person at any Elections Canada Office. But to use this option one has to fill the application for the registration and special Ballot. After receiving the special ballot paper if you want you can vote on the spot or you can take it to home and come back later to vote.

You can choose this option to vote by mail at any time, but to use this option you have to fill the application for the registration and special Ballot. After receiving the special ballot paper if you want you can vote on the spot or you can take it to home and send it by mail.

Canadians Living in Abroad & Intending to cast their Valuable Vote by Mail must fulfill the following Criteria:

  • You must be a Canadian Citizen
  • Your Age must be 18 years on Election Day

Vote by Mail for Canadians Living abroad or overseas voting:

you can choose this option to vote by mail at any time, but to use this option you have to fill the application for the registration and special Ballot. To get the vote by mail registration form, you can apply it online by visiting the Elections Canada official website or you can download the Form or else you can request a hard copy from the Canadian Embassy or Consulate or High Commission. Once the Elections Canada approves your vote by mail registration, your name will be added in the International Register of Electors and you will receive the special ballot voting kit from the Elections Canada office.

Documents to Provide While Applying Vote by Mail as a Overseas Voter:

  • Canadian Birth Certificate
  • Canadian Citizenship Certificate or Citizenship Card
  • Canadian Passport ( 2nd & 3rd pages)

Note:

While registering to vote as a overseas voter you must be able to provide any one of the above said documents.

How to Vote as an Overseas Voter by Mail for Canadian Federal Elections 2019?

  • This is a Special Voting Option so first you have to apply for it.
  • After the successful registration, your name will be added in the International Register of Electors and you will be eligible to vote by mail as an overseas voter.
  • The Elections Canada will send you the Special Ballot Voting Kit.
  • Once after getting your Special Ballot voting kit from the Elections Canada office.
  • Complete your Special Ballot and send back the Special Ballot by mail to the Elections Canada.
  • To make your vote countable, your Special Ballot must reach the Elections Canada on or before the Election Day i.e on Monday 21st October 2019 by 06:00 PM Eastern Time.

Note: The Last Date to Apply Vote by Mail for Federal Elections 2019 is on Tuesday 15th October 2019.
