Voting Options in Germany Elections 2019

The electoral system in Germany is based on PR system Proportional Representation system. The Electoral Commission of Germany basically offers 2 ways to cast vote, first one is voting on the day of Elections at the polling station in person and the second one is voting by post. To vote by using the first and second options one should get a voter notification from the local Municipality. After the getting the voter notification the ones who intend to vote by post they have to apply for the postal ballot.

Voting on Election Day:

How to Vote in European Parliamentary Elections Germany 2019 at Polling Station?

  • You will receive a Voters notification from the Municipality Authorities, the notification contains the information like when to vote and where to vote.
  • Voters Notification confirms your eligibility to vote in the European Parliament Election.
  • Visit the Polling station along with your polling card and voters notification on 26th May 2019 in between 08:00 AM to 06:00 PM.
  • Show your polling card and voter notification to the polling staff at the polling station.
  • After confirming your details the polling staff will issue the ballot papers.
  • Ballot paper consists of the list of Candidates or list of Parties or the symbols or options to cast your vote.
  • After taking the ballot paper, proceed to the polling booth.
  • Polling booth is a private place where you can cast your valuable vote without others interference.
  • Now go through the voting instructions which are present on the top of the ballot paper.
  • Now cast your vote on the ballot paper and drop the ballot paper into the ballot box.

Voting by Post:

The electorate of Germany those who reside in Germany they can vote by using the first option, but the ones who is away from home and intends to vote in the elections they must apply for the postal ballot at their Municipality. For example if you are staying for a long time then in that case you can apply for once. After applying for the postal ballot, the municipality authorities will send you the postal ballot documents along with your polling card and voter notification.

Postal Ballot is an voting option which should be applied by the voter in person or through mail or through FAX or through online. But the Postal Ballot must be applied by the voter at the Municipality where your residence is located.

  • Now complete the postal voting statement.

  • Now seal the envelop secretly and post the envelop to the address mentioned on the envelop.
  • You should send your postal ballot early, if you send it lately then you vote may not be counted.
